Tips For Calling Candidates

Best days and times to contact your candidates.

Having trouble reaching the candidates that you have painstakingly shortlisted?

Fret not, because at Workclass, we are committed to matching you with your candidates as quickly as possible.

As such, we have conducted some primary research to determine the most effective calling practices for you! We personally called 5000 applicants over the course of 2 weeks, took note of whether they picked up the phone and assessed the pick-up rates accordingly.

Read on to learn the best days and times to call your candidates and receive a response.

DAYS

In determining the best days to contact candidates, we made calls to an approximately equal number of applicants, randomly selected, on each day of the 2 weeks. Within each day, we recorded whether the applicants picked up or not, and calculated the probability that they will answer the call.

Best: Tuesday | Wednesday | Saturday

On these days, it was found that 7 in 10 of applicants will answer the call.

Worst: Friday

On Friday, it was found that only 5 in 10 of applicants will pick up the phone.

TIMES

In determining the best times of the day to contact candidates, we made calls to an approximately equal number of applicants, randomly selected, at every 1 hour interval across the 2 weeks. For each time interval, we took note of whether the applicants picked up or not, and calculated the probability that they will answer the call.

Best: 8am - 9am | 12pm - 1pm | 8pm - 9pm

At these time intervals, it was found that 7 in 10 of applicants will answer the call.

Worst: 3pm - 4pm | 6pm - 7pm | 9pm - 10pm

At these time intervals, it was found that only 4 in 10 of applicants will pick up the phone.

Last but not least, make sure to keep the call ringing for at least 30 seconds in order to give the candidates some time to respond.

All the best with your recruitment!
